The present paper approaches the reading, from the Spanish culture perspective, of one among the most renowned historical novels written by Andrea Camilleri. The work highlights the historical, cultural, linguistic and literary aspects in "Il Re di Girgenti" according to the idea of a common heritage. The cultural fusion is presented through a deep irony that mixes the allusions to nineteenth century writers with the poems of St. John of the Cross.
