In this paper we describe a new quantitative method for the analysis of antiviral activity of lysozyme and some of its derivatives on a polycariocytogenic mutant of Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1-MP) has been prepared. The extention of cellular fusion by HSV1-MP was evaluated by a "Coulter Counter" apparatus. The evaluation of inhibition of cellular fusion by the MP virus by lysozyme and its derivatives was determined by measuring the number of single cells with respect to infected untreated contros.
