Abstract

Sardinia today is crossed by deep reflections on its polity. In fact, the independentist option is present in Sardinian society as never before. The island, as a sleep-wake cycle, for several decades, has rediscovered and has forgotten its (political) identity. For about ten years, Sardinian people has taken a silent mobilization that today expresses strong themes about the financial autonomy and its adherence to the Italian State. This chapter aims to describe the results of a questionnaire in which citizens have spoken on these issues. The answers received show empirically that it feels a sense of distance from the Italian central State. So, there is the belief that the State does not help sufficiently the island from the economic point of view. In this regard, the so-called "revenue dispute" against the State over the lack of revenue shares transfer. Also, a Sardinian in every three says he wants independence for the Mediterranean island. Linked to this, there is a great rediscovery of Sardinian identity that can be considered the base for a (possible) political mobilization on centre-periphery Sardinian ethno-territorial cleavage.
