First launched in 2005, the "Master and Back" programme aims at enhancing the level of education and training of young Sardinian graduates and facilitating their return and access to the regional labour market. The programme, financed through regional and European funds, is unprecedented in the island in terms of both the level of funding made available and the number of beneficiaries involved. A few thousand young Sardinians have had and are still haying the chance to leave the island and get a high level of education. However, after years of implementation, results and impacts of the programme are still basically unknown and unclear. This study explores impressions and opinions of a group of beneficiaries that were questioned about the impacts of the programme on their lives and careers, as well as on Sardinia. Qualitative data was collected by conducting thirty six interviews among beneficiaries. Beside the programme, the research aims at expanding the debate and stimulating the issue of the conditions of the under 40s, who often face difficult and definitely uncommon employment circumstances, as well as become the main actors of the new labour mobility
