Endometriosis is a common gynaecological cause of CPP in sardinian population as well as autoimmune disease (diabetes mellitus type I , Sistemic Lupus Eritematosus). These results suggest that endometriosis must to be considered in all case of CPP and that future studies are necessary to know if there is a relationship between the high prevalence of endometriosis and autoimmune disease in female Sardinian population.
