This PhD Thesis focuses on the model of Zero-Morphology proposed by Panini as a specific case of the substitution descriptive pattern, aiming at the comparison with the many linguistic theories of zero. As a consequence the inquiry is mainly based on the philological analysis of the relevant 200 Panini rules and of Patanjali's and Kasikavrtti Commentaries. Secondarily the Literature on the linguistic zero is surveyed for comparative and historical purposes.
