The relationships between the removal of Posidonia oceanica banquette and shoreline retreat was analyzed in the bay of Paragan, a pocket beach located in south Corsica. The morphological and sedimentological features of the beach were compared with another pocket beach, the Pisciucani beach, located in the same coastal sector, which showed similar morphological characteristics and similar wave exposure. The results of the study showed that banquette removal in the beach of Paragan caused a retreat of the shoreline evaluated in 8-10 m, probably due to the variation of cross-shore beach profile toward more dissipative conditions.
