Is it possible to talk about a specific feminine narrative oral style? What would be, if any, its particular features? This essay sets out to explore these questions taking into account what has been described by different scholars on the field of oral and folk literature. We also analyzed traditional tales and life’s oral stories collected in Sardinia. In doing so we come to the conclusion that apart from the well-known fact of women paying closer attention their interlocutor as well as to the required task, women’s narrative voice is more lively due to the increasing incidence of dialogues in texts produced by women.

Abstract
Is it possible to talk about a specific feminine narrative oral style? What would be, if any, its particular features? This essay sets out to explore these questions taking into account what has been described by different scholars on the field of oral and folk literature. We also analyzed traditional tales and life’s oral stories collected in Sardinia. In doing so we come to the conclusion that apart from the well-known fact of women paying closer attention their interlocutor as well as to the required task, women’s narrative voice is more lively due to the increasing incidence of dialogues in texts produced by women.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
