This article intends to offer an overview of psychology to help the reader to under stand the following artiche and place them in a propoer historical, epistemological, and applicative context. The first part (Sections 1-12) will deal with some of the main issues in the history and the developments of psychology. The second part (Sections 13-19) will concentrate more on some of the most important application of psychology. Finally in Section 20 there is a brief mention of the importance of this discipline for a sustainable development.
