This work concentrates on the translating activity of Ervino Pocar in relation to his “fight” to the Mann’s Doktor Faustus. The essay underlines, on the one hand, what it had been the thirty-year collaboration between Pocar and the publisher Mondadori (in its several stages and affairs), and on the other hand it underlines which had been the translating strategies Pocar used to face the first and only translation in Italian, to date, of this novel. The analysis of Pocar’s translation, which has been conducted in a linguistic perspective, highlights how the lexical choices of the translator go in the direction of a civil and ideological engagement.

Abstract
This work concentrates on the translating activity of Ervino Pocar in relation to his “fight” to the Mann’s Doktor Faustus. The essay underlines, on the one hand, what it had been the thirty-year collaboration between Pocar and the publisher Mondadori (in its several stages and affairs), and on the other hand it underlines which had been the translating strategies Pocar used to face the first and only translation in Italian, to date, of this novel. The analysis of Pocar’s translation, which has been conducted in a linguistic perspective, highlights how the lexical choices of the translator go in the direction of a civil and ideological engagement.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
