After a short and close examination of legal aspects regulating the role of court interpreters this article analyses the communicative framework and the features of the process considered as linguistic event to see if and how within such a stiffly regulated framework he/she can fulfil his/her own tasks to make inter-linguistic communication possible by respecting the impartiality required, without giving up his/her important role as active participant in communication.

Abstract

After a short and close examination of legal aspects regulating the role of court interpreters this article analyses the communicative framework and the features of the process considered as linguistic event to see if and how within such a stiffly regulated framework he/she can fulfil his/her own tasks to make inter-linguistic communication possible by respecting the impartiality required, without giving up his/her important role as active participant in communication.
