This book outlines the effects of industrial mining development on the landscape in Sardinia, in a context where the difficult dialectic between tradition and modernity has left a system of voids from disused mines, abandoned lands and mining archaeology. The industrial landscape of Sardinia has been character-ised for a long time as a mining landscape, an ancient system that was significantly enhanced during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a period of considerable private investments and enormous local work-sites. What remains of this story is, above all, a complex territory with a layering of infrastructures, settlements and residual industrial waste, within a precarious ecological system that is hard to re-convert. It is the conclusion of a development model that leaves fragments of utopia and the paradox of an unfinished modernity.

Abstract
It is the conclusion of a development model that leaves fragments of utopia and the paradox of an unfinished modernity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
