Ps. Alexander’s (probably Michael of Ephesus’) Commentary of the two last books (M-N) of Aristotle’s “Metaphysics” is for the first time translated (even Sepulveda's latin version of the Commetary stops at Metaph. "Lambda"). As explained in the Introductions and Notes to the translation, its pages give us many of the most important information we can have about Pythagoreans’, Plato’s, Old Academicians’ and Aristotle’s philosophies of mathematics. But the strong point of the work is the way in which the Author “transformes” Aristotle’s arguments, presenting their terminology and concepts under an evident neo-platonic influence, that becomes especially clear in the passages where he mentions or discusses mathematical “abstraction”.

Abstract
