A high-resolution acoustic survey camed out in the channels of La Maddalena Archipelago revealed a number of bedforms and buried morphologies related sea-level changes during the last eustatic cycle. The Wiirmian sea-level fall and lowstand is witnessed by erosional surfaces and incision of the pre-Wiirmian sediments. Terraced surfaces of the seafloor in the depth interval 33-47 m testify that some sea-level still stands occurred during the Holocene sea-level rise. The onset of the present-day sedimentary and hydrodynamic conditions at 5000-6000 years B.P. favoured the formation and the maintenance of large-scale bedforms, such as sand ridges and sand waves.

Abstract
A high-resolution acoustic survey camed out in the channels of La Maddalena Archipelago revealed a number of bedforms and buried morphologies related sea-level changes during the last eustatic cycle. The Wiirmian sea-level fall and lowstand is witnessed by erosional surfaces and incision of the pre-Wiirmian sediments. Terraced surfaces of the seafloor in the depth interval 33-47 m testify that some sea-level still stands occurred during the Holocene sea-level rise. The onset of the present-day sedimentary and hydrodynamic conditions at 5000-6000 years B.P. favoured the formation and the maintenance of large-scale bedforms, such as sand ridges and sand waves.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
