This paper examines Chateaubriand's relationship with contemporary women writers from a literary and cultural angle, including his female relatives, who compose a fantastical and symbolic genealogy. It is suitable to nuance the interweaving of the literary and the erotic, and the paternalistic attitude of the recognized writer towards his female colleagues. The Mémoires d’outre-tombe show a problematic questioning of the femme auteur, this new figure that can no longer be ignored after 1830.

Abstract
This paper examines Chateaubriand's relationship with contemporary women writers from a literary and cultural angle, including his female relatives, who compose a fantastical and symbolic genealogy. It is suitable to nuance the interweaving of the literary and the erotic, and the paternalistic attitude of the recognized writer towards his female colleagues. The Mémoires d’outre-tombe show a problematic questioning of the femme auteur, this new figure that can no longer be ignored after 1830.File in questo prodotto:
