Within the framework of the first-order shear-deformable plate theory we discuss the deformations of a layered plate with surface/interfacial stresses acting on the plate faces and layer interfaces. We consider the Gurtin-Murdoch model of surface elasticity. For the derivation of two-dimensional governing equations we apply the through-the-thickness integration procedure. Abstract

As a result we present the constitutive equations for stress resultants and discuss the influence of surface Lamé moduli on the effective properties of the laminate.
