Following in M. Our work, carried out on sites in both the northern and southern Mediterranean, confirmed our belief that urban margins were most often generated, produced and erected by processes relating to systems of representation and stigmatization practices emanating from dominant urban actors, but that they could also be the result of cumulative or alternative processes of endorsement or, on the contrary, resistance, or even reversal of meaning of their populations.

Abstract
Following in M. Foucault's (1966) footsteps, the margins under study are to be understood within the framework of discursive, symbolic and social conditions, as well as the practices that preside over their appearance and “advent”, symbolic and social conditions, as well as the practices that preside over their appearance and “advent”. Our work, carried out on sites in both the northern and southern Mediterranean, confirmed our belief that urban margins were most often generated, produced and erected by processes relating to systems of representation and stigmatization practices emanating from dominant urban actors, but that they could also be the result of cumulative or alternative processes of endorsement or, on the contrary, resistance, or even reversal of meaning of their populations.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
