Regeneración, paisajes y arquitecturas: estrategias de intervención en emplazamientos mineros abandonados en Cerdeña

This text presents the first results of a work carried out by the University of Cagliari in the territory of Sardinia and in synergy and collaboration with local public institutions. The work has been developed on several fronts: research, teaching and design. Sulcis is a part of southwestern Sardinia today considered one of the poorest areas in Europe. This condition derives from the economic crisis in the mining sector. In 2018 we start a dialogue with the Buggerru Town Council, which entrusted us with the study of a masterplan for the seafront. It seemed important to us to explore the possibility of expanding the field of our action integrating the preparation of the masterplan with our research and teaching activities. In this way, several fronts were defined at different levels: such synergy has the advantage of increasing and stimulating work, although it requires a careful effort of coordination.
