The aim of this paper is to examine the ancient system of arrangement and the tradition of documents relating to Antonines agricultural estates, contracts and rents of cultivated land. It will analyze the ancient Archives of the houses of the Order of St. Anthony in Saint-Antoine-L’Abbaye (nowadays in the Departmental Archives of Lyon and Grenoble), in Ranverso (nowadays in Turin, in Mauriziano Historical Archives) and in Florence (nowadays in Archivio di Stato of Florence), and it provides a list of documentary types useful for research in agricultural history.
