Since ancient times, marriage was characterized by a marked asymmetry of power between husband and wife that thinkers argued was natural. In this essay, taking as a starting point Wollstonecraft's criticism of the laws and customs that governed it, the thoughts on this institution of some 19th-century thinkers will be examined: Anna Wheeler, William Thompson, Robert Owen and Frances Wright, because their arguments provided and still provide tools of analysis capable of refuting inveterate prejudices.

Abstract
Since ancient times, marriage was characterized by a marked asymmetry of power between husband and wife that thinkers argued was natural. In this essay, taking as a starting point Wollstonecraft's criticism of the laws and customs that governed it, the thoughts on this institution of some 19th-century thinkers will be examined: Anna Wheeler, William Thompson, Robert Owen and Frances Wright, because their arguments provided and still provide tools of analysis capable of refuting inveterate prejudices.File in questo prodotto:
