Blade production is among the most curated flaking methods. With reference to the surrounding mainland area, blade(let)s technology in Sardinia is a quite recent phenomenon, dating back not earlier than the VI millennium BCE. Strikingly, despite the local availability of an abundant obsidian source, this high-quality raw material seems to have been generally disregarded to produce long regular blades. Such a specialized activity, possibly performed by travelling craftsmen coming from overseas, suddenly appears around the beginning of the IV millennium for the local exploitation of a fine-grained flint in the Anglona region. This paper deals with a scanty evidence of obsidian blades production by pressure techniques, unrelated with the local tradition in the reduction system.
