As concerns about climate change and environmental sustainability continue to raise all over the world, governments and firms must consider the many challenges related to the future population’s growth to adopt proper policies and strategies for the sustainable development of present and future generations. The aim of this study is to shed light on the use of Process Mining to achieve higher sustainability levels in the livestock farming sector, as food consumption also will increase, especially concerning animal products, whose production is heavily pollutant. Our findings reveal that the livestock farming sector suffers from a not fully spread adoption of new technologies, particularly Process Mining, which could help make farming processes more productive while sustainable. Our contribution wants to highlight this gap and arise interest in this field of research, by providing a framework that integrates Process Mining with other innovative technologies already adopted in this sector.
