Language teaching must integrate several dimensions: structural, semantic, discourse and pragmatic relation (in reference to Ch. Morris). Such activity should involve the whole teaching team: languages, history, philosophy, etc. The present examples come from the observation of foreign students in medium and high schools of Cagliari. The mission the school has is to make students speak also about the surrounding problems. Rethorics and pragmatics should be the struments to acquire such competences.

Abstract
