In Sardinia ruled by Judexs, lieros de cavallu (free horseman) were big and medium landowners which had to provide their kings with military assistance. Gottifredo quondam Petri d’Arborea was among the most distinguished representatives of this social class. As member of the royal family of Arborea, he owned a rich armour that he showed off during parades organized by the king in order to examine the cavalry, as well as during collective hunts and military expeditions, to which Gottifredo took part, as liber ab equo.
Nella Sardegna giudicale, i lieros de cavallu (liberi a cavallo) erano grandi e medi proprietari terrieri che dovevano fornire assistenza militare ai loro giudici. Gottifredo quondam Petri d’Arborea era uno dei più illustri rappresentanti di questa classe sociale. In quanto membro della famiglia reale di Arborea, possedeva una ricca armatura che esibiva durante le parate organizzate dal giudice per ispezionare la cavalleria, nonché durante le battute di caccia collettive e le spedizioni militari, alle quali Gottifredo partecipava come liber ab equo.
