Abstract
On 13 April 534, the Constitutio included in the Codex Iustinianus sanctioned, through the birth of the Byzantine Prefecture of Africa, the entrance of Sardinia into the Eastern Roman Empire. The initiative reformed the institutional structure of the island and the composition of its ruling class; in general, the extent of its effects is traditionally considered the spark of important phenomena of renewal in the material, economic and literary fields. To understand the real extent of Justinian’s renovatio in Sardinia, this essay intends to propose a detailed analysis of the relevant archaeological indicators, contextualized within the historical and social framework, in order to obtain an updated overview of the life of Sardinia at a time key to the early medieval Mediterranean.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
