This study eams to dimostrate that the dicotomy "ma fa'ala"/"lam yaf'al" is not pertinent as an opposition between a modal/descriptive negation. All negations are modal and the compound lam yaf'al occurs because of the neutral tense value of this verbal form. modal vs descriptive negative is irrelevant in both "genres" of enunciation: Khabar and Talab.
