The essay explores from a sociological perspective the relationship between the institutional context and the construction of professional paths in the field of documentary production in Sardinia. Drawing on qualitative empirical research, it focuses on some distinctive features of those paths, from training to entry into the labor market, from employment strategies to the organization of work and to the relationship with sources of support to production and distribution, highlighting both the main results achieved and outstanding issues of the sector of documentary film production in Sardinia.
