Nora, located in southern Sardinia, is a coastal site frequented by traders and sailors at least since Phoenician times. Over the centuries, its commercial and maritime vocation has influenced human presence and strategic interest in the site. Under Carthaginian control from the 6th century BC, the site became part of the territories under Roman administration in the 3rd century BC. Over the centuries and until its abandonment around the 8th century A.D., Nora played the role of a crossroad for people, goods and customs. The aim of this paper is, through the analysis of aspects related to the city’s harbours, to highlight the economic, cultural and cultic phenomena that characterised the phases of Nora’s life.
