Over the centuries, its commercial and maritime vocation has influenced human presence and strategic interest in the site. Under Carthaginian control from the 6th century BC, the site became part of the territories under Roman administration in the 3rd century BC. Over the centuries and until its abandonment around the 8th century A.D., Nora played the role of a crossroad for people, goods and customs. The aim of this paper is, through the analysis of aspects related to the city’s harbours, to highlight the economic, cultural and cultic phenomena that characterised the phases of Nora’s life.

Nora, situada en el sur de Cerdeña, es un lugar costero frecuentado por comerciantes y navegantes al menos desde la época fenicia. A lo largo de los siglos, su vocación comercial y marítima ha influido en la presencia humana y el interés estratégico del lugar. Bajo control cartaginés desde el siglo VI a.C., el lugar pasó a formar parte de los territorios bajo administración romana en el siglo III a.C. A lo largo de los siglos y hasta su abandono en torno al siglo VIII d.C., Nora desempeñó el papel de encrucijada de personas, mercancías y costumbres. El objetivo de este trabajo es, a través del análisis de los aspectos relacionados con los puertos de la ciudad, poner de relieve los fenómenos económicos, culturales y cultuales que caracterizaron las fases de la vida de Nora.
