The complexity of Regional Planning System characterized, as in Italy, by a top down approach often requires reliable tools of analysis and problem setting in supporting decisionmaking. The implementation of a Geographic Information System for the wide area planning system analysis could lead to evaluate existing plans and better understand the underlined meanings stemming from the composition of different scale demands incorporated within the plans. Results of the first level of implementation of the GIS ODP Pilot Project are shown in this research report. Further system developments aim at the implementation of a WEB-GIS in order to allow Information sharing among different level of local authority. Using different protocols, it would allow citizens to access public information with a sensible increase of transparency in spatial decision making

Abstract
The complexity of Regional Planning System characterized, as in Italy, by a top down approach often requires reliable tools of analysis and problem setting in supporting decisionmaking. The implementation of a Geographic Information System for the wide area planning system analysis could lead to evaluate existing plans and better understand the underlined meanings stemming from the composition of different scale demands incorporated within the plans. Results of the first level of implementation of the GIS ODP Pilot Project are shown in this research report. Further system developments aim at the implementation of a WEB-GIS in order to allow Information sharing among different level of local authority. Using different protocols, it would allow citizens to access public information with a sensible increase of transparency in spatial decision makingI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
