In reflecting on sleep, phenomenological thought presents in an original way a consciousness that misses itself by allowing the world and time to slip away, sink, and reappear, so that interruption and self-abstention become constituent elements of subjectivity. This entry discusses different phenomenological approaches to the philosophical question of sleep, both from the perspective of a theory of consciousness and by investigating the world of life and history, in its vigilance and sleepiness.

Abstract
In reflecting on sleep, phenomenological thought presents in an original way a consciousness that misses itself by allowing the world and time to slip away, sink, and reappear, so that interruption and self-abstention become constituent elements of subjectivity. This entry discusses different phenomenological approaches to the philosophical question of sleep, both from the perspective of a theory of consciousness and by investigating the world of life and history, in its vigilance and sleepiness.File in questo prodotto:
