Mondo della produzione, prezzi e salari nelle città toscane prima e dopo la Peste Nera

The essay aims to analyze the world of urban production in 14th-century Tuscany, focusing on some specific aspects that, although partially known for a long time, have not always been cross-referenced and investigated in their interrelationships: the impact of labor in the overall industrial costs, the purchasing power of wages in the phases of growth and then decline of the urban population, and the evolution of the consumption of the social classes involved in the production processes in the decades immediately preceding and following the Black Death.

Il contributo intende analizzare il mondo delle produzioni urbane nella Toscana trecentesca, focalizzando l’attenzione su alcuni aspetti specifici che, pur parzialmente noti da tempo, non sempre sono stati incrociati e indagati nelle loro interrelazioni: impatto della manodopera nel complesso dei costi industriali, potere d’acquisto dei salari nelle fasi di crescita e poi di declino del popolamento urbano, evoluzione dei consumi dei ceti sociali coinvolti nei processi produttivi nei decenni immediatamente precedenti e successivi la Peste Nera.
