The article examines the connection between translation and typography, as emphasised in the studies by Schopp (2005 and 2011), using selected Donald Duck stories in German and Italian as examples. It aims to demonstrate the close link between these two areas in the language of comics. The focus is on the strategies and challenges involved in translating interjections, inflectives and onomatopoeic words, whose meaning and function are also significantly determined by their visual representation or design in the panel. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrates how typographical elements such as fonts, sizes, styles and colours are used in culturally specific ways in both languages to preserve the readability, emotional impact and aesthetic communicative function of the original Disney stories, as well as their overall context.
