It is well known that copyists of all ages intervened in texts for moral reasons. This type of intervention produced interpolations that are difficult to detect if there are no other sources transmitting the correct reading. In this paper, I will provide some examples of censorship in Greek and Latin erotic epigrams which have been interpolated pudoris causa, such as AP v 6, xii 136 and Mart. i 90, vii 18. The aim of my research is to investigate the ways in which the copyists interpolated the epigrams, in order to better understand the mechanics and the goals of their interventions and to what extent they were interested in disguising the interpolations in the text.
