A century has passed since the first historiographical publications on Arabic literature came out and the debate on the periodization of this millenary literature has started to attract, once again, the attention of critics and scholars. The great gaps in the historical-dynastic partition which was introduced by the Orientalists at the end of XIX century and then followed by Arabic modern and contemporary literary historiographers have penalized the study and the analysis of Arabic literature, by confining it in the convenience of the same traditional cages of European manuals. Nowadays a vast reconstruction process in the history of Arabic literature is needed, a process which comprises the study of both Arabic historical, cultural and linguistic peculiarities as well as the literary phenomenon in terms of its thematic and content dimension. This article intends to shed light on the debate on Arabic literature periodization and on some approaches and attempts advancing new partitions and phases.

Abstract
This article intends to shed light on the debate on Arabic literature periodization and on some approaches and attempts advancing new partitions and phases.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
