The capabilities of the chemical recovery in gas turbine plants have been investigated in this paper considering methanol as primary fuel. A detailed analysis has been carried out to evaluate the influence of the main process parameters, such as pressure, temperature and steam-to-methanol ratio, on the methanol reforming process and on its matching with existing heavy-duty and aeroderivative gas turbines. It has been shown that CRGT systems based on aeroderivative gas turbines present the best performances, in terms of efficiency and power, comparable with those of the more advanced combined-cycle power plants. CRGT systems based on heavy-duty gas turbines present lower performances, but allow for further recovery options.

Abstract
The capabilities of the chemical recovery in gas turbine plants have been investigated in this paper considering methanol as primary fuel. A detailed analysis has been carried out to evaluate the influence of the main process parameters, such as pressure, temperature and steam-to-methanol ratio, on the methanol reforming process and on its matching with existing heavy-duty and aeroderivative gas turbines. It has been shown that CRGT systems based on aeroderivative gas turbines present the best performances, in terms of efficiency and power, comparable with those of the more advanced combined-cycle power plants. CRGT systems based on heavy-duty gas turbines present lower performances, but allow for further recovery options.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
