This paper is focused on the study of AA 2198 T3 and on it weldability by friction stir process. It will begin by speaking about innovative Al-Li alloy. Later in the discussion will be studied in depth the weldability of this alloy in the form of rolled sheets in butt configuration process by Friction Stir. We report the results of the experimental campaign, designed with the help of DOE methodologies, and the latter will be performed ANOVA analysis to assess the influence of process parameters on the joints and made to study the evolution of forces and temperatures during the welding process. Finally, on the basis of results achieved in previous phases of the trial is to evaluate the possibility of welding process by Friction Stir the alloy under consideration in aircraft applications and the guidelines for future study.
