Rainwater chemistry in northern Sardinia is little affected by crustal aerosols because of the low influence of sporadic pulses of desert dusts in this area. Most I:ain events exhibit pH < 5 and the total concentration of most trace metals is almost completely in dissolved form. This can be important in relation to the effect of heavy metals on the marine ecosystem as their solubilities are scarcely reduced by pH-dependent adsorption and precipitation processes in the presence of crustal aerosols.

Abstract
Rainwater chemistry in northern Sardinia is little affected by crustal aerosols because of the low influence of sporadic pulses of desert dusts in this area. Most I:ain events exhibit pH < 5 and the total concentration of most trace metals is almost completely in dissolved form. This can be important in relation to the effect of heavy metals on the marine ecosystem as their solubilities are scarcely reduced by pH-dependent adsorption and precipitation processes in the presence of crustal aerosols.File in questo prodotto:
