Ageing of conglomerates made of recycled glass and epoxy resin is studied. This material appears suitable for building envelopes, thin shells and design objects. It is quasi-brittle -with quite good mechanical characteristics and appearance- and translucent, taking color from its glass aggregates. Since envelopes are subjected to the action of the atmospheric agents, accelerated tests were conducted to investigate the ageing effects on the mechanical properties of the material and estimate the lifecycle of thin panels and shells.

Abstract

Ageing of conglomerates made of recycled glass and epoxy resin is studied. This material appears suitable for building envelopes, thin shells and design objects. It is quasi-brittle -with quite good mechanical characteristics and appearance- and translucent, taking color from its glass aggregates. Since envelopes are subjected to the action of the atmospheric agents, accelerated tests were conducted to investigate the ageing effects on the mechanical properties of the material and estimate the lifecycle of thin panels and shells.
