The geo-lithological map of the seafloor between the area of Capo Boi and Torre de su Fenugu in SE Sardinia is presented, compiled using data collected during Side Scan Sonar, Multibeam Echosounder and sedimentological surveys. The research work was conducted within the framework of the following research projects: Gruppo Nazionale Difesa Catastrofi Idrogeologiche (G.N.D.C.I.) – Prevention and Prediction of High Risk Landslides – Sub-topic: Coast protection – Sardinia Working Group, “Palaeoclimatic and palaeogeographic reconstruction of the Pleistocene-Holocene from sediments of the Sardinian-Corsican basins”, funded by Cagliari University. Multibeam, Side Scan Sonar and sedimentological data were collected during a survey conducted in the Bay of Cagliari in 2001 for studying the sea floor and coasts of the Golfo degli Angeli. A total of 18 nautical miles of sea floor profiles were collected using the Multibeam Echosounder and 12.5 nautical miles with the side scan sonar. The geo-lithological map was made using 1:10.000 scale digital map produced from the Regional Technical Map supplied by the Computer and Cartographic Service of the Sardinian Government’s Local Authorities, Finances and Town Planning Department , sections 567060 Solanas and 567050 Torre delle Stelle. The first part of the research focused on zoning the seafloor where sampling was then carried out by means of a Van Veen grab. The multibeam and side scan sonar data, combined with new sedimentological data, were processed to produce a detailed 1:7,000 scale geo-lithological seafloor map.

Abstract
The multibeam and side scan sonar data, combined with new sedimentological data, were processed to produce a detailed 1:7,000 scale geo-lithological seafloor map.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
