Lead contamination (up to 20 μg/L) in the Baccu Locci stream is only localised in the upper part of the homonymous mine, despite very high Pb contents in mine wastes, stream sediments and soils over the whole catchment. The rapid dissolution of anglesite, which is the first product of galena oxidation, accounts for the upstream Pb release to waters, then Pb is removed down to 0.6 μg/L by probable sorption/precipitation mechanisms. Contrary to As, Pb is not significantly bound to ferrihydrite but mainly occurs as plumbojarosite, a secondary mineral whose stability field and solubility are still little known.

Abstract
Lead contamination (up to 20 μg/L) in the Baccu Locci stream is only localised in the upper part of the homonymous mine, despite very high Pb contents in mine wastes, stream sediments and soils over the whole catchment. The rapid dissolution of anglesite, which is the first product of galena oxidation, accounts for the upstream Pb release to waters, then Pb is removed down to 0.6 μg/L by probable sorption/precipitation mechanisms. Contrary to As, Pb is not significantly bound to ferrihydrite but mainly occurs as plumbojarosite, a secondary mineral whose stability field and solubility are still little known.File in questo prodotto:
