Elementi di derivazione islamica nell’architettura e nell’urbanistica della Sardegna medievale. I segni di una presenza stabile.

The series of cultural and material indications relatable to the Islamic presence in the Middle Ages Sardinian have long been known, mostly considered in the literature expression of fleeting presence as a result of raids and pirate adventures. Among these we distinguish the set of traces referable to the early centuries of Islam, those attributable to the story of the Lord of Denia Muset attempt to conquer the island in the eleventh century, and other late medieval connected to Islamic traditions and legacies transmitted by the Iberian world. This paper intends to analyze some new aspects associated with the land, the settlement, the popular and monumental architecture, which reinforce the thesis – presented in the past – of a more stable presence of Islamized populations on the island. To these may be attributed cultural traditions still visible in the urban structure of the villages of the south of the island and of some other cities.
