An experimental program has been carried out on recycled concrete with the aim of establishing the relation between the static modulus of elasticity Es and the dynamic one Ed. Several concrete specimens have been made by using different percentage of recycled aggregates in substitution of the natural ones. Ed has been calculated starting from the measured velocity of ultrasonic signals and Es has been measured according to the Italian standards. Results showed that Es is always higher than Ed and that the percentage deviation between the two parameters is quite the same for both ordinary and recycled concrete, independently on the substitution percentage of recycled aggregates.

Abstract

An experimental program has been carried out on recycled concrete with the aim of establishing the relation between the static modulus of elasticity Es and the dynamic one Ed. Several concrete specimens have been made by using different percentage of recycled aggregates in substitution of the natural ones. Ed has been calculated starting from the measured velocity of ultrasonic signals and Es has been measured according to the Italian standards. Results showed that Es is always higher than Ed and that the percentage deviation between the two parameters is quite the same for both ordinary and recycled concrete, independently on the substitution percentage of recycled aggregates.
