The contribution shows the structure of a research aimed to the preservation and enhancement of the rural landscape of Planargia, in the west of Sardinia. The area under attention, historically related with the town of Bosa and travelled by a dense network of connections, hosts an architectural heritage linked with the agricultural activity. We can find the shepherd's hut (called “pinnetta”), the recovery of farmer tools, more complex nineteenth century buildings and villas, today abandoned and in the state of ruin. The use of the territory, although still tied to these activities, has shown, in the twentieth century and in the recent times, an abandonment of the rural historic heritage and the development of a new type of settlement which seems to have lost any connection with the territory and with the traditional building practices.
