Abstract
The contribution presents the Recovery Manual for the city of Dellys in Algeria. It is the outcome of a complex international research and cooperation experience between Mediterranean Countries, which took place in 2011 and 2012, as part of the operational activities of the Montada project which the DICAAR took part in1. The ancient casbah of Dellys, historical capital of the region Kabilya, was almost completely destroyed and abandoned in the early 2000s, after a significant and catastrophic earthquake. With the intent of encouraging the re-population of the historical city, which was forcefully expressed by the Berber community, the aim of the research was the study and recognition of the features of the morpho-typological and constructive structure of the traditional architecture in the casbah. The manual, written in French and Arabic, aims to guide the re-qualification processes of the historical and traditional heritage by following principles of continuity and compatibility, and defines the guidelines for the restoration works, also taking into account all the issues related to earthquakes in the area.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
