The focus of the following thesis is on the study of the mining sector of the island of Sardinia, which has been considered as the main form industry, between the 19th and 20th centuries. The following work concentrates on the mines in the Narcao municipality, a small centre located in the Sulcis-Iglesiente area in South Western Sardinia. The abovementioned mining area was also known to be frequently in contact with the large mining industries on the island, as well as with the rest of the Italian Peninsula, by reproducing the same dynamics of those areas. The main objective of this work is to provide a tool through which knowledge and consulting material are at disposal and provide reference to the documentation linked to the Mont’Ega, Rosas e Giuenni districts, findings, which may be considered as universally unique today! The methodology that has been adopted in this work makes reference to the archives of the companies as well as to the study of reports which have been handed down by oral sources. The enormous amount of data collected was inserted in the Archimista software, an open-source application that allows the creation of a number of fields describing batch, series and archive units. All the information collected was added to the database produced by the Archimista software and will allow the exchange of information and data with the SISMA Project (first census of the Sardinian mining areas) a project that had been previously initiated by the Department of History, Cultural Heritage & Territory, whose work was in close collaboration with the Superintendent of Archives of Sardinia, The Italian State Archive and the Autonomous Region of Sardinia.
