This work focuses upon some differences and some similarities between James Watt and Josiah Wedgwood's legitimation of their respective intellectual properties. More particularly I mean to investigate the literary technologies involved in their discourses over authorship, originality, invention and imitation. Such an analysis provides an outline of the principal cultural resources that Watt and Wedgwood mobilized to defend their commercial interests.
