The Sardinian toponomastic heritage. Complexity, history, perspectives The linguistic heritage of Sardinia presents a complex historical layering. Studies have concentrated mostly on prehistoric toponymy, or anyway preroman. However, it is necessary to reflect on the most recent formations, those of neolatin and indigenous Sardinian formation, so far overall neglected. Very often we find ourselves in a slippery linguistic sector: that is, facing directions that stand halfway through what is commonly referred to as toponym, and the denomination of a spot, a place, a geographic statement. Of all that, account should be taken in political and administrative seats as well, for a conscious recovery of such heritage and a spreading of its knowledge
