Starting point for this item, dealing with the figure of Herakles in the peisistratean Athens, is the analysis of the Attic pottery from the acropolis, which the University of Cagliari did for a PRIN 2004 project. Archaeological and literary evidence tell us the hero met the archaic polis’ requirements and values: that is why Peisistratos chose him to identify himself with, and that is why Herakles representations are so frequent in archaic Athens.

Abstract
Starting point for this item, dealing with the figure of Herakles in the peisistratean Athens, is the analysis of the Attic pottery from the acropolis, which the University of Cagliari did for a PRIN 2004 project. Archaeological and literary evidence tell us the hero met the archaic polis’ requirements and values: that is why Peisistratos chose him to identify himself with, and that is why Herakles representations are so frequent in archaic Athens.File in questo prodotto:
