An experimental version of a digitally controlled DC drive is presented in the paper. The four quadrant chopper, the auxiliary circuits, interface and control circuits have been designed and built in our laboratory. The chopper and drive control is performed by an eight-bit general purpose low cost microprocessor, in which the control programs have been written using assembler language. The purpose of the paper is to show that flexible, reliable and efficient microprocessor based systems can be built at low costs. The experiments have also allowed to test new high performance IC components whose cost is not very low, but could be justified depending on the particular drive application.

Abstract
An experimental version of a digitally controlled DC drive is presented in the paper. The four quadrant chopper, the auxiliary circuits, interface and control circuits have been designed and built in our laboratory. The chopper and drive control is performed by an eight-bit general purpose low cost microprocessor, in which the control programs have been written using assembler language. The purpose of the paper is to show that flexible, reliable and efficient microprocessor based systems can be built at low costs. The experiments have also allowed to test new high performance IC components whose cost is not very low, but could be justified depending on the particular drive application.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
