The TV environment has evolved rapidly in the past few years from a linear, broadcasting-oriented environment to a highly complex eco-system in which the combination of classic broadcasting technologies, IP-TV, Video on Demand and OTT services is combined with the new features of the smart TVs, all in a user-centric manner. As such, recommendation and advertisement services are among the most important services nowadays for the TV ecosystem, heavily relying on user data. In this context, collecting, processing and storing user data comes with a series of issues in terms of privacy, security and ownership. This paper addresses these issues by proposing a blockchain-based decentralized end-to-end solution for recommendation and advertisement services for the TV ecosystem.
